Golden On Deck

UX/UI design

Recognized as a global leader in people analytics, Visier focuses on answering the right questions to shape business strategy and drive better business outcomes through workforce optimization. As a UX designer, I worked on the Analytics team focusing on data visualizations. Projects included UI and visual improvements, design system implementation, design sprints and cross-functional teamwork. Below features two projects that showcase design sprint thinking as well as UI work.

Problem Space

Considering the users that have to use Visier Analytics on a day to day basis, but have no knowledge of the Visier brand prior to launching the product, there is a lack of considered branding efforts between the marketing and product areas.

Goal

The goal was to enhance Visier’s brand reputation in the product by creating a more consistent look and feel in regards to the UI, visual design and brand messaging.

By constraining to the framework and not deviating from the UX of the page, a UI and layout refresh this allows for a quick buy in as a whole redesign is not a top priority.

In addition to the UI refresh, a notification pop-up was explored to further establish brand awareness within the product. This pop-up can be used to announce new features, announcements or for onboarding (current onboarding is out-of app).

Outcomes

Presented to key stakeholders at a company all hands which garnered interested and enthusiasm. Additionally, collaborated with a team of developers during an annual dev day to further progress the concept.

Explanation Modal UI Design

The explanation modals are a guidance tool used to attain more information about unfamiliar terms and calculations within the product. The goal of the project was to improve the experience of reading and navigating through content in the modals.

Painpoints:

Layout
• Inconsistencies in spacing and hierarchy make it difficult to skim and read content

• Long line length makes it difficult to read (optimal line length for body text is 70-80 characters per line. Current modal uses 150 characters)

• Spacing above and below visuals are inconsistent

Navigation
• Inability to navigate between explanations. Most views have at least two

• For long explanations, there is no way to jump between content sections.

• No clear back button

Re-design

  • Utilize design system components to improve the typography and spacing of content

  • Introduce a toolbar that allows for quick navigation and exploration between content sections and related terminology.

  • Include colour indicator from data visualization into explanations to reinforce relationship between dentition and visual

  • Include a back button
